Out of the Darkness is a work on an original text writen as an homage to Luciano Berio. Written shortly after his death, it is in a style similar to some works he had written.  The work is through-composed and about eight minutes long. It is intended to be sung with one person on a part and arranged throughout the stage so no two performers are immediately next to each other. The piano is intended to be in the middle of the stage (both up- and down-stage and left to right). This piece is extremely difficult and should be performed by professional or advanced collegiate groups.
